Sylvia Garcia, a devout catholic in faith, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who never sat back always was in middle of the action with all her beloved angels.
Sylvia was a nightingale nurse who worked devotedly 25 years plus at Wagner General Hospital in Palacios, volunteered for many organizations locally, Vice President for the Boys and Girls Club, Member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club, also worked 14 years at Texas Medical Clinic with Dr. Nhi Le in Victoria as a nurse, retired after 40 years in the medical industry. Along with her retirement time, Sylvia not only enjoyed watching The Young and Restless and Price is Right as a daily routine she also enjoyed sitting on the porch waiting daily on her great grandchildren to get home from school. Sylvia loved to play Bingo and loved to take Casino trips and absolutely loved her oysters.
Sylvia was called home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 9, 2024, she was 76 years old. She was born on November 18, 1947, in Victoria, Texas to John Manuel Ottino and Eufemia Alvarado Ottino. She resided in Palacios for many years and later moved to Victoria.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents John Manuel Ottino and Eufemia Alvarado Ottino, sisters Mary “Choc” Ottino & Frances “Chica” Martinez, brothers John Ottino, Jr. & Henry Ottino.
Survivors include children, daughter Melissa (Marcelino) Garcia-Tavera of Victoria, Texas; son Carlos (Loretta) Garcia of El Campo, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Stephanie (Carlos) Garcia of Spring, Texas; Frank Castellanos of Spring, Texas, Cristal Castellanos of Victoria, Texas, Jaime Estrada of Houston, Texas, Marissa (Allysah) De Los Santos of Port Lavaca, Texas, and John Garcia of El Campo, Texas; also survived by 2 sisters Elvia (Mike) Araguz of El Campo, Texas & Virginia (Robert) Davila of Arapaho, OK; 1 brother Carlos (Maria) Ottino, Sr of Palacios, Texas; 12 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 10:30 am Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 1004 Magnusson Ave Palacios, Texas. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM with Rev. Eliecer Patino officiating.
Pallbearers will be Stephanie Garcia, Frank Castellanos, Cristal Castellanos, Jamie Estrada, Marissa De Los Santos. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her beloved great grandchildren who she cherished with all her heart.
Service under the direction of Wheeler Funeral Home of El Campo, Texas.
