Susanne Ammann’s Life Journey

The youngest of three children, Susanne was born in Freeport Texas. From a very early age, she loved clothes and would dress up in full skirts with petticoats and twirl around.

Holidays were especially important to her because of the family traditions like presents under the Christmas tree, Easter egg hunts, trick or treat at Halloween, and birthday get togethers.

We had horses, and Sue loved to ride our black mare Gypsy who was very gentle.

At 18 years of age, she went to live in a group home. Although she came home most weekends, she was able to participate in many of the organized events for the mentally disabled, like the Special Olympics and the Houston Rodeo. She and some of her roommates also make trips to Galveston, and even went on a cruise.

Later in life she enjoy movies, TV shows, shopping, board games and Bingo.

The last four years of her life were spent at Ridgewood of The Woodlands Nursing Home. She enjoyed meal time in the dining room, her therapy secessions, movie time, and Bingo night. However, her very favorite thing was to go over to the lake and sit on the shaded deck while throwing bread to the ducks, fish and turtles.
