Penny Elaine Klatt of Victoria entered Heaven’s gates on butterfly wings on March 24, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on January 19, 1943, in Wharton to the late Albert Julius and Doris Glaze Wenglar.
She graduated from El Campo High School and later received her LVN degree. Penny was a homemaker for most of her life, as her true purpose was caring for her family. She was always there to ensure their needs were met, pouring her love, dedication, and devotion into her home.
After her sons were a little older and their needs less demanding, Penny and her husband, Bobby, became owners of the Han-D-Pak convenience store, where she worked part time. Later, they moved to Victoria, where she assisted Bobby with Victoria Floor Surfacing.
Penny was a very talented seamstress. She sewed most of her own clothes and created many beautiful handcrafted items. She lovingly made cherished quilts for her family, and each baby was wrapped in a handmade blanket sewn with love. She also spent treasured time with her sister, Debbie, creating one-of-a-kind quilts that will be forever enjoyed and remembered.
Most of all, Penny simply enjoyed spending time with family and friends. And she enjoyed her time at the bay. She was immensely proud of her sons and grandsons. She was a woman of faith and was a devoted follower of Merry Ministries. She will forever be our Penny, Mom, Mamaw, and Garner.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Bobby Gene Klatt; her sons, Allen Wade Klatt (Michelle) of El Campo and Kelvin Derrick Klatt (Rebecca) of Sugar Land; her grandsons, Casey Sebastian Klatt (Kirsten) of Houston and Grant Lucas Klatt of Sugar Land; her brother, Doug Wenglar of El Campo; her sister, BeJo Gadeke (Paul) of El Campo; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Mathis, brother-in-law, Eddie Mathis and her sister-in-law, Catherine Glenell Wenglar.
Pallbearers will be Allen Klatt, Kelvin Klatt, Casey Klatt, Grant Klatt, Sean Wenglar, and Clint Maxwell.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 29, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, at Christ Lutheran Church, with Rev. Wayne Clement officiating, followed by interment at Garden of Memories.
Memorial donations in memory of Penny may be made to Merry Ministries.
