María Trevino Aguilar, 86 of El Campo, passed away October 3, 2024. She was born on August 1, 1938, in Rio Hondo, Texas to the late Lauro and Lucinda Trevino. Maria was a retired seamstress, a homemaker who loved baking, cooking, and making her famous tamales for anyone who enjoyed eating them. She was a member of St. Robert’s Catholic Daughters, and an Honorary member of the Hispanic Education Project of El Campo. Maria spent her retirement years enjoying her children and grandchildren. She was known as “Nana” and felt that her journey in life was to feed everyone who entered her home. Maria’s Catholic faith was unending and believed that if one loses faith, we lose everything. She never met a stranger for she believed that there is always a friend behind a stranger’s face who could use a hug or love.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Mary Arredondo (Juan), and Alberta Falcon (Lee), and sons Domingo Aguilar, Jr (Dolly) and Alexander Aguilar (Johnnah). Sister, Beatrice Moreno and brothers, Abelarado Trevino from Bay City and Rafail Trevino of Grand Prairie Texas. 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Maria was proceeded in death by her husband Domingo Aguilar, Sr. Brothers, Lauro, Porfirio, Guadalupe, Gilberto, and Raymond Trevino and sisters, Alberta Ozuna, Amelia Galvez, Concepcion Lucio, Lidia Gonzalez and Rosie Landeros.
Visitation will receive family and friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, October 6, at St. Robert’s Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:00pm. Funeral service will be on Monday, October 7, at 10:00am with Father Augustine officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Caiden Herzik, Noah Martinez, Jose Reyna, Joshua Canales, Russell Falcon, and Christopher Aguilar.
Honorary pallbearers, Colby Herzik, Jacob Canales, Jackson Canales, Cory Herzik, Jericho Herrera, Isiah Miller, Hilario Lumbreras, Lee Falcon, Jr. and Aaron Reyna.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
