Margaret Vela Hernandez, daughter of Rafael and Belen Guerrero Vela was born June 10, 1940 in Alief, Texas, fourth in line of 12 children. Three brothers and four sisters have deceased. Two sisters and two brothers are still living. She married Gerald Hernandez on May 3, 1955. She is the mother of six children, 5 sons, Steve, Vincent, Daniel, Gerald, Jr., and Leonardo Hernandez and 1 daughter, Lucia Hernandez Leger. She was a house servant to one family in Houston for 43 years before she and Gerald moved to El Campo in September of 2007.
Her greatest achievement in her life after studying the bible and attending spiritual meetings. She made her personal dedication to her God and creator of the universe Jehovah on the 24th of June in the year 1972 at a district convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in Houston, Texas. She, in front of many, symbolized her dedication by water baptism. She shared with others the truths that she learned and loved in the door to door ministry to the very day when she suffered a brain aneurysm. She would press on until her last day on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
She, along with many other loved ones now wait on Jehovah. (Job 14:14-15)
Visitation for Margaret will begin at 10:00 am Friday, July 2,2021 at Wheeler Funeral Home with a Memorial Speech beginning at 11:00 am. Final funeral service and burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Hernandez, Daniel Hernandez, Jr., Sheila Valasco, Andy Valasco, Jr., Edward Charles and James Leger.
