Kelly Aileen Shanks

Kelly Aileen Shanks, 57, of El Campo, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Hillje, Texas. She was born in Freeport, Texas on April 7, 1967, to Donald Olan Shanks and Sharon K. Shanks.

She was a graduate of El Campo High School. Kelly had a long and happy life at the group home on Meadow Lane and DayHab on West Jackson. She participated in Special Olympics, and loved all of the activities which the group home offered. She especially liked the dances offered by the Pilot Club and she truly loved Michael Jackson and Rocky movies and the Wharton County Special Friends Dances at the Wharton Fair Grounds.

Kelly enjoyed fishing trips to Drapela pond, DayHab trips to Palacios and going to the Christmas Candle Light Service at First Baptist Church.

She was lovingly cared for by her family and All the Little Things Count provider services. She had many friends.

Kelly was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Kenneth and Aileen Strawn, and Step-father, Lynn G. Stanley all of whom she adored.

She is survived by her mother, Sharon K. Stanley. Brother, Ken O. Shanks and his wife Jessica. Nephew, Grant Shanks, nieces Julianne Shanks, Brianna Shanks, and Brinnlee Shanks.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Omar and Brother Rick DuBroc officiating.
