John Edwin Kramer was born on November 18, 196,0 to John Edwin and Fannie Marie (Hershberger) Kramer in Canton, Ohio. On February 2, 2026, he passed away after complications from a severe stroke he suffered on December 5, 2025. At 5 yrs old, in March of 1966, he lost 2 new baby brothers. When he was 6 yrs old, on Jan 20, 1,967 his father died in a tragic snowmobile accident on Berlin Lake Reservoir not too far from their house. He grew up attending the Hartville Church of God in Christ. In 1968, his only sister Twila passed away at the age of 15. In May of 1971, his brother Jimmie died. In November of 1969, His oldest brothers, Curtis and Dennis moved to Brazil, SA. In Nov of 1972 He along with his younger brother Peter and older brothers Ferris and Elvis and their mom, moved to Brazil, SA and reunited with his older brothers. During his years in Brazil he found God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Brazil. He had many happy memories there in Brazil with his brothers, cousins and other friends there. May 31, 1977, Peter passed away in Brazil.
He grew up learning to have empathy for others as he had 3 handicapped siblings that passed away as children. He spent a lot of his teen years, helping his uncles as a mason tender.
In April 1978, He returned to the US with his brother Ferris and his mom. In 1979 or 1980 he participated in the Wichita Falls Boys unit, helping rebuild homes for those who lost theirs during the tornado storm there. He also lived in Kansas for a short time. In 1984 he moved to El Campo, Texas and worked for his brother Ferris doing roofing for 15 years. He then worked at Multifab Metal and then finished his work career of 17 years at Strouhal Tire and Recapping Plant. John married Margaret (Margie) Schoellmann March, 30, 1991. Together they had 1 daughter Leandra, who was the light of their life. Together they spent many hours fishing, hunting and working at the fireworks stand, gathering pecans to sell. He lost the love of his life October 29, 2015. His last years have been filled with hospitals and pain, that he struggled with. But he still wanted to go fishing. In recent years he has been accompanied by Barbara Wishert, who has been his companion and helped him through some of his hardest times.
He is survived by his daughter Leandra, his companion Barbara Wishert and his brothers, Curtis(Mary Lee) Kramer, Alliance, OH and Ferris(Rosalina) Kramer, El Campo, TX , and sister in laws Freda Kramer, Arlyn Kramer and Barbara(Pete) Dean, Stepsister, Kathryn Gribble, God daughter, Brittany Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents John and Fannie Kramer, stepfather Murle Roberts, Sister Twila Kramer, Brothers Dennis Kramer, Elvis Kramer, Peter Kramer, Jimmie Kramer, Philip Kramer and Philemon Kramer.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, Monday, March 9, 2026, at the El Campo Mennonite Church, 492 CR 346, El Campo, Tx. Funeral service at 10:30 am followed by burial at Garden of Memories.
