Joel Gordon DeFriend also loving known by family and friends as "Jody" passed away January 14, 2024 at his residence. He was born February 1, 1960 in Brenham, Texas to the late Ernest Mark DeFriend and Charlotte Ann Allenson DeFriend. Jody loved farming, but his real love was being a bartender for Greek Brothers for over 30 years where he made many friends just by being his fun-loving self.

Jody is survived by his son, Joshua Pope (Teresa) of Louise; daughter, Megan Gomez (Michael) of East Bernard; brother, Jason DeFriend (Becky) of Louise; sister, Julie DeFriend of Louise; grandchildren,

Rheanna, Jacob, Kylee, Kyler. Kimberly-Anne, Charlotte and Jeaux, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend to many and he will truly be missed by all.

Services will be scheduled at a later time.
