Janie Vasquez

Janie Vasquez, 60, of El Campo, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 in Houston. She was born on December 20, 1962 in O’Donnell, Lynn County, Texas to Enocensio Basquez and Juanita Martinez Basquez.

Janie worked as a CNA, and loved arts and crafts. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughter Sylvia Mendoza and husband Alonzo, Jr.; three sons; Luis Hernandez, Sr. and wife Carmen; Michael Hernandez and wife Maria, and Jose Hernandez. Foster daughter Gloria Mendoza; two brothers Enocensio Basquez, Jr. and Robert Gutierrez and wife Alma; sisters, Rosita Guerra and husband Alfonso; Lori Escamilla, and Josie Castillo Ezequiel; and nine grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 4 – 5 PM on Monday, April17, 2023 at the Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be conducted at 5 PM in the Chapel of the Wheeler Funeral Home with Brother Jessie Avendano., officiating.
