Guadalupe DeLeon Olmeda, 99, of El Campo, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 15, 1926 in San Benito, TX.
Guadalupe was a devoted mother who raised eight children with strength, faith, and a generous heart. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada, and her faith guided her throughout her long life. She worked at IC Sewing Manufacturing Company.
Guadalupe had a special way of bringing people together through food. Her homemade tacos, tortillas, and tamales were more than meals—they were made with love. Her cooking was so beloved that people would ask about her and her food long after their last bite. Her greatest joy was simply watching everyone enjoy what she had made. Her kitchen was the heart of the family, and no one ever left her table hungry.
Guadalupe’s love lives on in the family she raised, in the recipes she passed down, and in every meal shared around their tables. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guadalupe Jose Olmeda, Jr.; her former husband, Rosalio Ramos; her cherished grandchildren, Ricky Ramos, Florencio Ramos, Jr., Walter “Noonie” Villarreal, Jr., and Macy Gabriela Almanzar; her parents, Maria Rodriguez DeLeon and Juan DeLeon; and her siblings, Juan DeLeon, Maria DeLeon, Pete Vasquez, Raymond Vasquez, and Manuela Vasquez.
She is survived by her children: Florencio Ramos; Gloria Broxton and her husband, Bruce; Mary Ballejo and her husband, Joe; Ross Ramos and his wife, Margie; Frank Ramos and his wife, Angie; Lupe Espinoza; Joe Olmeda and his wife, Lisa; and Gracie Garza and her husband, Joe.
She also leaves behind 31 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
