Gerardo Hernandez

Gerardo Hernandez, son of Julio and Guadalupe Velasquez Hernandez, was the first of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters. Born on October 3, 1936, in Eagle Lake, Texas, he married Margarita Vela on May 3, 1955. He was the father of six children, five sons and one daughter. For 47 years, he provided lawn maintenance for one family, the Brittons, in River Oaks. He moved to El Campo, Texas, in September 2007. His greatest achievement, like that of his parents before him, was keeping his family together. He set a fine example for his children by being self-reliant and responsible. He set the bar high, and even into his late eighties, he was employed by prominent families in El Campo. He passed away on February 10, 2025. This is a temporary goodbye, as he, like so many others, awaits Jehovah's fulfillment of His promises of an earthly resurrection. (Isaiah 26:19)

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Wheeler Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 10 am.  At the completion of the services burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
