Elmer Redwine

December 19, 1938 — April 25, 2019


Elmer "Pops" John Redwine passed away April 25, 2019 in Austin at the age of 80. He was born December 19, 1938 in El Campo to the late Ellenore Clara Schicke Redwine and Elmer Pope Redwine.

Elmer had a passion for hunting, fishing, gardening and bird watching, Schicke Point was his happy place. He dedicated his life to being the best mechanic around and could fix just about anything, especially transmissions. He didn't care much for Fords but loved his GM vehicles, especially his GTO. If you called on him, he would do everything he could to help you out. A man with a pure heart of gold that was loved by many. Definitely a keeper!

He is survived by daughters, Marsha Hudgins, Nancy Watson; step-daughter, Tina Smith; sons, Roger Redwine (Debbie), Richard Redwine, Robert Redwine; brother, Ernest Redwine; sister, Virginia Sanchez; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Minnie Miller, Mary Redwine Zaruba and Evelyn Marcum.

Visitation will be from 4 till 8 pm Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Wheeler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 12 noon on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Wheeler Funeral Home with burial to follow at Garden of Memories.
