Edwin Frank Polasek

Markham resident Mr. Edwin Frank Polasek passed away on March 22, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Joe Ann (Menefee) Polasek, son Robert Allen Polasek (wife, Elizabeth and son Christopher Polasek), his daughters Dr. Connie Polasek and Dawn Needels (husband Bill Needels and son William Ryan and daughter Emily). His was proceeded in death by his parents Jerry and Lydia Polasek and brother Edward.

He was born on December 17, 1929 in Louise, Texas and joined the Air Force in 1950 and retired September 30, 1970 with stationing’s in at Ellington AFB, Houston, Tx, Kimpo AFB, Korea for two tours, Hickman AFB, Hawaii, James Connelly AFB, Waco Tx, Wiesbaden AFB, Wiesbaden, Germany and Griffis AFB, Rome, New York. His service medals included the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He attended Louise High School, Texas Western University and the University of Hawaii.

He considered his greatest accomplishment his family and was a proud veteran who worked as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). While working for GEEIA (Ground Engineering Electronics Installation Agency). His fingerprints along with two others were placed on a metal plaque on the moon Landing Rover during Astronaut Buzz Aldrins flight. At James Connelly AFB he elevated the 314 Air Division two times to the Best Safety Record Award and was a past member of the Houston Energy Council. After his military retirement he became a Loss Control Engineer and LP Gas Fire Fighting Director for Ranger Insurance, and was promoted to Corporate Director of Safety at Aetna Insurance.

Visitation will be at Wheeler Funeral Home, El Campo, Tx from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2024.  Graveside services with military honors will be at 10:45 AM, Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Tx.

Due to the floral regulations at the Houston National Cemetery, in lieu of flowers the family request a donation to the charity of your choice.
