Daniel G. Cardenas, 85, of El Campo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Ganado, Texas. He was born on January 22, 1940, in Louise, Texas, to Ambrocio and Felicita Cardenas.
Daniel was a loving husband, devoted father, and a man whose kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He never met a stranger and always had a story to share, a laugh to offer, or a hand to lend. He loved starting his mornings with a hot cup of coffee at Whataburger, where he enjoyed visiting with friends and catching up on the latest news. A self-employed carpenter by trade, Daniel took pride in his craftsmanship and found joy in the details of life and the beauty of the world around him. He was happiest surrounded by family, good food, and the sound of Tejano music playing in the background.
Daniel loved to fish, cook a good Bar-B-Q, and share a home-cooked meal with those he loved. He enjoyed dancing with his beloved Angel at the Pam Am, taking walks on the beach, and visiting with friends around town. He was a man who cherished the simple joys of life—reading the local paper, catching up with neighbors, and spending time with those who mattered most.
Daniel’s warm heart, old-school values, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and sister Esther Gonzalez. He is survived by his sons, through the marriage of Angelita Cardenas, his wife of 35 years; Sons: Noel Cardenas (Julie), and Rene Cardenas (Laura). Son: Daniel Cardenas, Jr. (Connie), Daughters: Veronica Gonzalez and Danielle Castro (Ralph). Brothers: Tony Cardenas (Elva), and Adrian Cardenas (Lucy) and Numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
