Betty Joe Hubenak

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Betty Jo Hubenak, who entered eternal rest on April 15, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born on March 26, 1942 in Columbus, TX to the late August and Rosa (Naumann) Braden.

Betty was known for her humbleness, Christian faith, incredible patience, ingenuity and a lifelong passion for learning new things on her own. Whether she was creating beautiful paintings, tending her garden, cooking delicious food, playing the piano, or birdwatching, she found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Her family will always cherish memories of her nurturing home, practical wisdom, resilient spirit, and loving grace.

She is survived by Daughter, Karen (husband Dennis) Cox; Daughter, Sherri Myers; Son, Greg (wife Tiffany) Hubenak; Grandchildren: Holly Cox, Ayden and Avery Hubenak; Great-Grandson, Shawn Cox; Sister, Rosemary Quiroz; Sister-in-law, Sylvia Hubenak, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Chuckie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Hubenak, parents, August and Rosa Braden, and brother, Bynum Braden.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 6 PM, at Wheeler Funeral Home, located at 612 W. Jackson, El Campo, TX 77437 - (979) 543-3512

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 PM.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 22, at 10 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, located at 206 Hickory St, Blessing, TX 77419

Burial will follow immediately at Blessing Cemetery, 303 Co Rd 464, Blessing, TX 77419

Following the burial, the family invites guests to join them for a lunch reception and a time of fellowship at the St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Blessing, TX.
